alexwearspantsOk so I am doing a semi-liveblog to this, in that.... I am finally watching it. And I'll need to stop multiple times because I get scared.... Well. May as well take advantage of that to rant.

Oh River Song. This is what we need. More of you interacting with people who aren't the Doctor, you're awesome when you do that. (Also I value bits like this because they remind me that it's not the actor who is at fault for character lameness, it's the script.)
ETA #1 Well that didn't take long did it? I really like the Church-soldier thing here, it's well done. Also Amy what are you counting down to? I mean, ten, nine, I assume it's a countdown.......
ETA #2 It's an oxygen factory.... oh Moffat you Greenie.... Also Amy's wonder at that is just awesome. ALSO I am just gettng flashbacks to Four To Doomsday. I suppose it should be to WoM but eh.
ETA #3 Ehhhhh I am over adding ETA. FROM NOW ON WE ROLL FAST AND LOOSE (just how I like my women). And speaking of? The two ladies crowd around the Doctor in fear and amazement and then toddle off when he tells the Bishop to make them! BECAUSE THEY NEED MEN! MEN IN CHARGE! (Ahhh, LJ-Indignation, how I've missed you.) Also I always hate it when they put flashback in mah DW, it feels wrong. But then I guess it's part of that whole 'having a series arc' thing which is not hugely happy-making. Damn kids, back in my day... *shakes cane*
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH THE ANGELS HAVE THE DOCTOR OH NOES D: (although seriously they would have gotten him sooner than that he was turning his head back and forth like WHOAH. ...... this is, and I know I've said it before, why terrifying monsters should never be revisited, and never given deeper analysis. Even just seeing more of them is bringing up my tolerance levels....)
Oh man and now that was just juicy delicious characterisation wasn't it? Oh bejesus was it. Amy and the Doctor! Oh dear lord I just ... I feared, for a moment, when he did his whole 'if Amy gets hurt' thing because it was sickeningly like Ten and Rose and ew that was part of Ten's character!fail but this... was just sweetness and yes I am a sap but this isn't a romance and he prefers to kiss her forehead than her mouth and I loved it.
River is growing on me more and more too, and sure I think the whole 'engagement' thing is just one more red herring, but this scene was important, we need to see why she is the way she is about the Doctor and this kind of thing helps with that. She didn't trust what he was doing with Amy, didn't like it, and it worked. a) That she was disagreeing with him? and b) that it turned out - gives her depth and also goes a long way to explain her towering over-confidence in him.

Oh man I don't know if Moffat is just retconning like mad now that he has the power, or if he and RTD planned this ages ago and have been giggling like shit for months? But if this all ends in Black Guardian times there will be a party.

TELL ME SHE KILLED THE DOCTOR AND I WILL LAUGH AND LAUGH AND LOVE THIS FOREVER, BECAUSE THAT IS THE KIND OF FAUX!TENSION THAT CAN ONLY LEAD TO CRACKY, GLORIOUS INSANITY AND I WILL RIDE THIS TRAIN TO AWESOMEVILLE, CAPITAL OF POOR WRITING. (Also I can only imagine old enfeebled Thirteen as she snaps his neck. In black, of course, with a goatee. Ahahahahahahahahhahahaha. BUT THE SECRET WAS IT WAS HANDY ALL ALONG! God, they really are playing up the Valeyard thing liek whoah, aren't they? I was going to mention it at the 'Time can be unwritten' but this is just .... Heee :D OH OH OH. EXCEPT I WILL WRITE AU WHERE IT IS OMEGA, because that poor bastard never gets a break. Which of course pulls up a whole new question of whether your regens are predetermined but *pulls lip* hmmmmn. Anyway I should go and watch!)
Augh whenever Amy's alone shit gets scary. Blegh. Also Eleven with Octavian letting him die...... interesting. I want to give the Bishop a hug, though.
I like that Amy is always pushing the Doctor to tell her more - Seven 'n' Ace, I've said it before I'll say it again. I like that River and the Doctor are fighting. They seem much more comfortable with each other now. I'm quite liking all of this really, it's good. Although I'd like it even better if I wasn't being made to feel that the Doctor is the lone wandering Hero Of The Universe, and nothing interesting happens that he's not around to see. Even when he just watches things it feels like an indulgence. I like it better when he was That Weird Travelling Bloke With The Box, who tinkered a bit here and there, but wasn't the universe filled with exciting things? Unlike now where it just feels like it's filled with ... trouble. THIS IS NOT TO HATE ON ELEVEN. I love Eleven, I think he's great. And back on this scene with Amy wandering around navigating by sound alone? Very awesome, full of tension and scarytimes and I likes it.
Ok this 'walk like you can see' thing is tension-making but stupid, you shouldn't change the rules of your own monsters so that the person you want to live lives but everyone else dies. That's just .... it's dumb, ok? Everything they've done with the angels this episode is dumb, great for provoking a scare, but riddled with logic flaws and it irritates me. I hope they can write their way out of it.
Mmn that ending wasn't entirely satisfying but eh. They worked with what they had and it was emotionally fulfilling. River on the other hand. River has grown on me a great deal more and I am actually sad to see her next time because it will be stupid old River and not awesome new River. But. We'll see.
Ahahaha I love being able to notice the difference between his hair cuts inbetween scenes. Poor editing people!
AND AUGH AMY WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?!? Noooooooooooooooooooooo. NOnononoNOnono! AMY!!! You're the awesome companion! The 'doesn't want to get into the Doctor's pants' companion! YOU'RE LIKE HIS SISTER AMY WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!?!

But if they have to go there I'm glad that at least she's doing more of the 'I'm a randy 21yo with adrenalin pumping through my blood cos of near-death experiences and what is clearly a deep fear of commitment and ahahaha SERIOUSLY you think I LURVE you and want you forever HELL NO alien idiot I just want you to ride me 'til the morning comes' instead of 'YOU ARE MAH DESTINY AND MAH ONE TRUE LURRRRVE WE MUST BE TOGETHER FOREVER!!!' Because both are lame but the second is more lame. And it's very 'crush on your teacher' and when I detach myself and stop the sobbing I can concede that it's slighlty hotwrong. But mainly ew ew ew YOU'RE HIS SISTER STOP IT!
Annnnnd done. Looking at next week's trailer and ignoring all the.... stuff.... that carries over from this week's ep, all I can do is squee and shout out 'Helen McCrory YAAAAAAY' :D.
